With the development of new technologies and the transition of mankind from the industrial to the post-industrial stage of the development of society, communication in real life has gone online correspondence in various kinds of instant messengers, people spend a significant part of their day on the Internet stably every day. Most of the potential consumers for many companies live on the expanses of social networks, which, in turn, opens up a huge field for creativity for marketers. The purpose of the article is to demonstrate the advantages of the Instagram social network as a platform for promoting goods and services by analyzing its statistical data on the number of users and demographic characteristics. The findings made it possible to understand that an ordinary, at first glance, social network can be used as an effective tool for marketing and sales, displacing traditional advertising methods.
