Prospect for the use of cryptocurrencies and digital technologies in the financial sector

Abstract

This article raises the issue of the prospect of using cryptocurrencies and digital technologies in the financial sector of the economy. The concept of cryptocurrency and digital money is revealed. It is also briefly described when the first digital currency was created and when they started talking about it in Russia, as well as a brief description of the five most popular cryptocurrencies in the world. After that, a number of advantages and disadvantages of using digital currency and digital technologies in the financial sector of the economy are considered. The same is said about the countries in which the digital currency already operates and about the national project of the Russian Federation to create its own "Digital ruble", which is still being developed.
