The article examines the theoretical and practical aspects of the formation and application of performance indicators of the state civil service in the Russian Federation. The relevance of assessing the effectiveness of government civil servants in the context of the implementation of national development goals is substantiated. The conclusion is drawn about the need to move from formal monitoring of the implementation of indicators to a comprehensive assessment of the contribution of the civil service to achieving the results of the country's policy implementation.
